GeoMol Team (2015): GeoMol - Assessing subsurface potentials of the Alpine Foreland Basins for sustainable planning and use of natural resources - Project Report
The report comprehensively describes the results and developments of the transnational GeoMol project geared towards serving administrative bodies and decision makers in terms of cross-border planning and sustainable management of the use of natural resources. It focuses on the Alpine Foreland Basins, shared by six countries, as striking geological structures that feature a wide range of subsurface potentials which can substantially contribute to boost the use of renewable energy and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.The report summarizes the principal subsurface potentials and their geological setting, and provides an assessment of the theoretical geopotential in five pilot areas. It addresses the challenges of implementation and transnational harmonization of the baseline data as well as methodologies and elucidates the web-based infrastructure for the provision of the spatial information.
